Making a sliding chicken coop door. There are no nails used in this chicken coop project. I ve designed what i believe to be a more simple method of creating a self locking chicken coop sliding door. As it shifts to a lighter weight the door closes. Note that you may need a third hinge directly in the middle depending on how tall your chicken coop is.

Bolts are also used for the assembly of the door parts. Screw in two hinges per door one about four inches from the top of the door and the other about four inches from the bottom. The door slides along a channel made by screwing a 1x4 on each side of the door then attaching another piece of 1x4 that s offset one inch from the first piece. Build a cheap movable chicken coop.

The mobile hen house door frame is made with the same boards as the structure. The chicken tractor door frame is finished. When the door is closed it sits behind the board on the bottom to thwart raccoons and other small predators. The cord pulls the door up or lowers it.
