Maytag Front Load Washer Door Locked

Reconnect power to washer plug in.

Maytag front load washer door locked. Now you can reach down to the bottom of the door latch where there is a 1 round plastic tab. The top panel will then pull straight back up and off. You may also see an f8 e1 error code. The lid lock is a default feature of your maytag front loading and top loading washer to prevent opening the appliance while the cleaning cycle is in progress.

After plugging the washer in one of the following 3 events will happen. Wait approximately 2 minutes for control to reset. Pull on this tab to manually unlock the door. The door should unlock after 60 seconds.

If not call for service. If the washer will not unlock at the end of a wash cycle unplug the washer or disconnect power. The washer will go into a hold and drain routine for 8 minutes. Front loaders have a locking mechanism to avoid opening the door during a washing cycle but occasionally this lock will be activated accidentally.

The door may immediately unlock. Run a drain and spin cycle. Nothing else will appear to be happening with the machine during this time. The door should unlock after this is complete.

When using one of these cycles the door will remain locked until the cancel button is pushed. If the washer was powered on before being connected to water the door may be locked and it may go into a drain mode. The door lock led light will blink.
